Remembering Gordon Henderson

The Voice of Prophecy mourns the loss of Gordon Henderson, long-time evangelist and, in two stints, ministry leader. Pastor Henderson passed away on February 3 at the age of 94.

Gordon Henderson, who served the Voice of Prophecy in evangelistic leadership during two separate stints passed to his rest on February 3 at the age of 94.

Pastor Henderson first joined the Voice of Prophecy in 1967 to serve as the director of the ministry's Evangelistic Association. He held this role until 1973 where he left to become ministerial and lay activities director of the Georgia-Cumberland Conference. From 1978 to 1982, he was president of the Pennsylvania Conference. He then pastored at the Walker Memorial Seventh-day Adventist Church in Avon Park, Florida, until he returned to VOP in 1985.

For the next eight years, he served as the director of field services and station relations. In this role, Pastor Henderson was involved in the ministry's efforts to share Jesus through broadcasting, Bible courses, and public meetings. He also represented the ministry at camp meetings, pastor's meetings and other public gatherings.

After retiring in 1993, he continued to hold evangelistic crusades domestically and abroad. During the last 20 years of his retirement he also served as an interim pastor in 19 different congregations in Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico.
